Reclaim. Rebuild. Reunite.
The West End Redevelopment Corporation (WERC) is a private, non-profit organization with a mission to serve as a catalyst for home ownership, neighborhood stabilization and community revitalization. Founded in December 2005, and initiated through the efforts of the West Belleville Promotional Committee, WERC serves the neighborhoods of the West End, which are collectively bound by Routes 157, 161, 15 and 26th Street in Belleville, Illinois.
The West End is a community of friendly neighborhoods with beautiful homes, well-established schools and churches and easy access to the great city of St. Louis. Unfortunately, some of our older properties have given way to neglect and/or abandonment. WERC sees an opportunity to restore these properties while making way for revitalization.
Our initial efforts are focused on purchasing deteriorating properties in the West End. Properties owned by WERC will be managed, improved and sold or removed on a case-by-case basis. We are committed to revitalizing and maintaining a healthy, diverse community and believe quality housing is a step in the right direction.
Get Involved by making a donation to WERC or volunteering your time. We are a community-based organization, and you can help us build an even better West End. WERC is classified as a public charity and tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Contributions are tax deductible.
